Re: July - Increasing Rain Chances/Tropical Wave
Shear.jpg AreaInterest.jpg Interesting to note that the shear tendency is decreasing. Strong W and W/SW winds of 20-30 are still around, but hinting at relaxing as potential system continues in a generally N/NW direction. RBG and hi-res GOES satellite shows the low nicely. EDIT...the dashed lines i...

Re: July - 4th Thoughts/Watching the Tropics?
trop1.jpg Trop.jpg Areas of interest in my opinion that bear watching this upcoming weekend! GFS (still running it appears) is trying to latch on to a closing system in BOC and, like some of the NCEP track ensembles, brings it generally N towards the Middle Texas coast. Mexico radar is depicting an...

Re: December-Light Freeze Friday/Christmas Storm/Very Cold?
Had a strong gusty cell associated with fropa here in League City at 3:00 and station recorded a record high wind gust of 50.1 mph at 3:01 with a record high average sustained speed of 34.4 mph. Gotta love it...some of my lawn furniture is now in the bottom of the pool, and I thought I had it secure...

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: Passing South Of Key West
What concerns me is with Isaac weakening and becoming disorganized he will wander around the Guld and be even harder to forecast. I went through Ike and really hope to not have to go through another hurricane...I honestly could not start over again. Isaac has done nothing so far but try to organize...

Re: Tropical Storm Isaac: Passing South Of Key West
Question for Jeff: Do you think that *if* we have a scenario where this thing actually heads towards the TX coast we will still be looking at a Wed/Thu landfall or sometime later? Or is it still too early to tell? Not sure what to make of it, but wunderground has an 80% chance of thunderstorms on T...

Definite shortwave impulse approaching from W/SW area as storm increasing in coverage and strength. Radar indicated hail poss to .5" diam in cell to N/NE of Katy http://wx.apxsolutionsinc.com/wxradarbaseref.php . Gusty winds here in League City to 25 mph. It also appears a previously mentioned ...

Re: February: Wintry Mix Tonight/Severe WX Possible Monday 2
Sleet/graupel mix here in League city. I've been watching my radar and it seems that if returns are showing in .5 degree Base Reflectivity and also above at 1.4 and 2.5, indicates precip making it to the ground...just my 2 cents. Based on that, I'd bet you see some precip in SW Houston in next, say,...

Re: January: Tornado Watch/ Slight Risk/ 1/25 With Heavy Ra
GRLevel 3 radar via my website is showing storm total rains of over 5 inches West and North of Katy and NW Harris County. Gusty winds down here in League City with just sprinkles, but it's on the way.

Re: January: Slight Risk Severe Storms 1/24-25 / With Heavy
Srain, have been watching the ULL over last 12 hours and it appears to be slowing any Eastward progression at this time and diving due South just North of ELP. Large influx of moisture over the Big Bend area with dry slot/dry line very visible approaching C/Tex area. Wondering if ridging previously ...

Re: September Weather Discussion: this year's Autumn in Texa
Here's hoping some of the lingering boundaries and outflow channels from this mornings storms to our East and S/E linger around and provide some focus for shower and thunderstorm development as it heats up later today. WV suggesting an impulse or two to our W/SW in Big Bend area in Westerly flow to ...

Re: 2011 ATL Hurricane Season: Watching The Gulf & Caribbean
As svrwx0503 and Paul were posting, there are some indications of a pretty decent trough and strong ridge forming over the east CONUS. The models do indicate the pressures may lower over the Atlantic and Carribean but at this point no organization is showing up in the models. I am more excited with...

Re: September Weather Discussion.
Models still showing the same this morning it appears, even the ensembles. Looks like first chance of rain would come late this week or over the weekend with SE flow returning and mainly sea breeze/outflow driven convection, assuming the cap erodes enough. Progs still advertise a cold front middle n...

Re: 2011 ATL Hurricane Season: Watching The Gulf & Caribbean
This mornings GFS and ECMWF runs are rather consistent on shifting/building a large ridge to the Eastern CONUS and offshore to Western Atlantic. Models also show the death ridge flattening out over the 4 corners towards weeks end as well as hint at lowering pressures in the Carribean/GOM. May be an ...

Re: Possible Labor Day Gulf Storm!
Well, for 2 days now GFS has picked up on 1, if not 2 areas that may develop. At one point there were 2 lows in the GOM at the same time. Looks like the models though are coming better into agreement of something forming, be it in GOM or from Carib influence. Image suggesting whatever develops could...

Had 105.9 yesterday. With no high clouds like were present yesterday morning, I think we will break records today again...as for Monday, prob few degrees cooler area-wide, but still in triple digits.

Re: Possible Labor Day Gulf Storm!
wxman, correct me if I'm wrong, but the death ridge is progged to weaken and move East/NE towards TN valley, correct? I've seen some say move West but don't think that's the case. East would open up the GOM, especially TX coast for tropical moisture and associated with a weakness along the lower/mid...
