Harris County Flood Control reports rainfall is causing rise in bayou levels but no danger of overflow at this time. #texasrainfallmassacre
Nice hashtag! Ditches were fuller than I've seen in a while along Telge, and 2920 at Calvert had the usual runoff creeping into the inbound lanes.

Looks like the rain is moving out of the Austin area, which is good.

The whole area seems to be moving quicker to the south now.

Major flooding currently now taking place in the Beaumont area! Chambers, Jefferson, Jasper and Orange counties are seeing the heavy training effects and according to radar, it doesnt look to be moving anytime soon! Wish I was at my home instead of at work so I could keep an eye on the place. Honestly right now in Beaumont, it looks like a hurricane is coming onshore with the high winds, sideways rain, flooding and pitch black darkness! If there is ever a Halloween "look", This is it! Wow...

Update from Jeff:

Excessive rainfall in progress along I-10 from Columbus to Beaumont.

Since early this morning rainfall of 2-5 inches has fallen over the area on top of the 2-3 inches yesterday. This is leading to flooding and significant rises on area watersheds. Thus far no major flooding has resulted, but street flooding from the high hourly rainfall rates is ongoing in urban areas.

Should see this line of storms slowly build southward over the next 2-3 hours with the heavy rainfall axis shifting to along a line from Wharton to Friendswood to Lake Charles.

An additional 2-3 inches of rainfall on top of what has already fallen will be possible.

Major flooding is ongoing on rivers between Austin and San Antonio after 8-12 inches of rainfall overnight. Large floodwaves have been generated and are moving downstream along the Blanco, Guadelupe, Colorado, and San Marcos Rivers.

A rainfall rate of 4.85 inches was recorded overnight in 75 minutes south of Austin.

Pretty extraordinary heavy rainfall event here in Austin! We saw rainfall totals ranging from 3.5 inches up to 15 inches in the general metro area. High-water rescues throughout the night and now we have mass evacuation rescues ongoing in southeast Travis County. Don't forget that we had a 10-12 inch rainfall event less than two weeks ago in parts of the general Austin metro area. This morning, many roads are closed ... debris on roadways ... a very slow commute into downtown.

And it looks like we might do this again next week?! Yikes!

KJAC - Vehicles are beginning to float away. All feeder roads in the Beaumont area are flooded. Beaumont PD are scrambling to close off all under passes and low lying areas! If you are in the Beaumont area, you are advised to stay home and do not get out and drive around! High water rescues are currently taking place!

Thanks,
It looks like the trough axis is moving our way rather quickly now, although isolated amounts near 10 inches+ are possible NE of Metro Houston for the storm totals since yesterday.
