I bought my battery powered fan about a month ago at Lowe's. It's a mid-large sized fan, and works great. It was 24.00. Takes 8 "D" sized batteries.

Also, there are some very good cooling wraps that you can purchase. Academy has some cloths that work quite well (they used to be in the golf dept - you put them in water and wrap around your neck or head, and they keep you cooler). REI has some neat neck wraps that have beads of some sort in them. You soak for a little bit and it's amazing how cool they keep you. That, along with the fan, would be a great help. There are also clothes that have cooling properties. I have some because I race (triathlons) and it can get very hot. These bring your core temp down a few degrees. Hopefully, lack of electricity won't be an issue though! However, a good thunderstorm can knock it out too...just thought I'd mention other helpful cooling things!

Been driving me nuts for the last 3 hours...The long range radar out of Key West shows most of the rain and what seems to be a center of circulation spinning off to the North and West of Dry Tortugas. Yet watching the live recon via Tropical Atlantic's Google Earth app. Recon has fix the centers all South of Dry Tortugas. Did the convection blow off and expose the center of Isaac? When bouncing the radar of the Recon's position....it looks pretty dry. Last 3 fixes: 992, 994, and 996mb. That C-130s track looks like a drunk capt. at the controls.

Just had some time to sit down and actually look at real time obs. There sure does look to be some odd structural issues happening. Initially on first glance there is a fairly healthy representation on imagery. Then taking a glance at the latest recon fixes shows the center on the outside of the convection. Latest fix is well to the W of the previous one.

Looks like it's decoupling...

Scott...Starting to see some banding reforming to the south and east of where the last recon fix was...Nice to see someone from Freeport on here. Born, raised, and graduated from.

It does look like a circulation with convection is taking off to the northwest with a showery center displaced just southeast. Satellite does look good though, but would be nice to have detailed vis. imagery to see better.
