We are getting a good flow from the south and that along with the line of storms should give most of Southeast Texas a decent chance of picking up around a inch or so of rain. The cap is going to restrain any severe storms but this rain will be a welcome site for many.

12Z GFS only has us down to the mid 30s around New Year's. Not even as cold as this coming weekend. It also has the storm tracking more to the north across the Great Lakes rather than across the Ohio Valley. 12Z Euro has the 850mb freezing line briefly south of the Red River next weekend, but that's it. Storm tracks across northern Great Lakes. I don't see any "coldest air of the season" coming down in today's runs.

There likely is/will be some rumbles of thunder with the Upper Low. Remember though that these storms are likely to be elevated (higher in the atmosphere) rather than surface based. Gusty winds and even some small hail can not be ruled out as well.

Picked up about .55 inches of the wonderful wet stuff here in Bevoland. Some rumbles of thunder too as the line of weather moved through.

Enjoy you SE Texans ... and in the words of Ernest Tubb, "merry Texas Christmas, you all!"

I'm monitoring the lightning now. Definitely some, but nothing intense.

Front is passing through NW Harris County at this time. Gusty northerly winds with moderate to heavy rain with thunder and a nice temp drop.
