yes its just going to be freezing rain for se texas with some sleet mixed in, just not the right setup for snow this time, that being said looking at the newest euro and EPS runs, well lets just say the next system may offer up better chances for snow

For metro Houston, still looking good. NWS says little to no ice accumulation, with tight window for freezing rain between 3 and 9 am on Sunday. All cold rain before and after. Channel 13 also limits freezing rain window to Sunday morning (60% chance).

Yeah, NWS dropped my lows quite a bit.
Up to 1/2 inch of sleet and 1/2 inch of freezing rain.
Lows down to 13 and 14 Sunday and Monday Night.

Good morning. As we have seen inches the past 24 hours, the forecasts have changed at least 3 times in many areas of the CWA. I expect it to fluctuate even more as we continue to run the global and high resolution models. I think a bit of now casting maybe involved as well as this event unfolds. This will be an ever changing event so make sure to pay attention to all media outlets for updates.

I’m getting a little more concerned about Southeast Texas now. The HRRR along with other models show thunder sleet/thunder freezing rain over southeast Texas Sunday morning.

December 1989, Longview, TX… that moment made me a weather geek!
2 inches in 15 minutes in a severe Thunder sleet cell. Then 6 inches of Thunder snow in about 3 hours.
It was amazing!
