I drove from League City to Vermilion Parish this afternoon and I honestly can’t remember a time when there was this much constant wind. I’ve driven a ton in my years and this trek was more physically exhausting than usual focusing on staying on the road.
Took the 82 route through Port Arthur and Cameron. The wind didn’t abate from Galveston County to Vermilion Parish.
April 2025
Had a big hailstorm here last night. And have a 80% chance of rain/snow in the forecast tonight. The weather is very dynamic here to say the least.

Yep the one thing that sucks here is that you pretty much are guaranteed to be in a drought every Summer ☹ . I find it crazy that an area that can be darn right frigid sometimes can also be so extremely hot during the Summers. I will say though that at least for me the low humidity makes the heat a little more tolerable than the summers in SE Texas, even though technically it gets hotter here. Of course that will be subjective though as I am sensitive to humidity.
It's been a very fun experience so far being here weather wise to say the least. I've only been here for 7 months and I've already experienced multiple windstorms, dust storms, severe thunderstorms, multiple hail events, flooding, ice, multiple heavy snowfall events , single digit temps and sub zero wind chills. ect... The weather means serious business here. LOL
0.8 inches early this morning. More than I expected. If makes up for the near bust with the last system.
Early April and early October. Usually, the only times I can guarantee green grass. And for now, live bushes and trees.
Enjoy the upper NW flow while it lasts!
Glad Don saw some action - I trust the roof and vehicles suffered no damage!

Today looks to be the last rain chance that we will probably see for at least the next 10-14 days or through mid month, upper level ridging dominates the pattern after this, with not much showing up on the models

So what happened to All the rain we were supposed to get today
I have received over 3 inches of rain over the last couple of days. And we've had severe thunderstorm warning 3 nights in a row around the same time each night.

We are getting rain in our area as streamer showers persist. Some of these might end up being descrete as the afternoon wears on.

This should be up and out of here pretty quickly.
I’m not sure where you saw that at, but we were never supposed to see much rain today. The WPC only had most of us getting around .25” to .50”.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 11:36 am So what happened to All the rain we were supposed to get today
We were just a bit too far west I guess here in Fairfield cypress. It developed a bit past us and north of us but mostly went around with .02”. Was hoping for .3-.5 today.
Lufkin under the gun.

Mega bust, pretty pathetic lol, just a sprinkle here
I wouldn’t really call this a bust. The models were never really showing that much rain to begin with. Mid to late month next chance.

Not in Humble. Lost power for 1 minute. Nice cloud to ground strikes. Still heavy rain. Remember, CWA covers a lot of miles.

Anytime 13 issues their "weather alert day", it's 95% of the time a bust.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 5:37 pm Well all that hype and abc13 weather alert day was a let down lol
