Getting a nice soaking rain today nearing 2 inches. The storm late next week has my attention as the last cyclone produced not only severe weather, but also a very potent windstorm that lasted all day and night. Winds were sustained at Tropical Storm strength for hours with gust of 60-70mph.There were wind damage reports across the area with powerlines down. The next storm looks more potent which has me a bit concerned that we may have even stronger winds this time. The GFS has the low getting down to 969mb!

Head's up this evening
FROPA blasted through here without much rain, but some potentially severe cells are developing with a potentially line forming NW of Houston and moving through this evening.
Severe cell warning now, with the cell near Huntsville and moving east.
I would keep an eye out just in case.

of Madisonville, moving east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Trinity and Riverside.
Instructions
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Prepare immediately for large hail and deadly cloud to ground
lightning. Seek shelter inside a well-built structure. Stay away from
windows.
If on or near Lake Livingston, get away from the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

I mowed that front and back yards today in League City. It felt like June out there. Yuck.
I will say this…..I planted a veritable orchard last Spring. With the cold snaps and snow here in League City, I am shocked to report that I’ve only lost 2 young citrus trees out of 8.
It seems I’ve lost 1 of 4 peach trees, also, but all else are flowering and shooting out leaves like nobody’s business. I’m really happy to see it.
I did lose all my hibiscus, though.
I didn’t cover a single plant.

Nice. The lack of rain from Beryl to early December killed a number of our shrubs. Houston, Brownsville & El Paso are without a MIC, Houston also without a WCM.
That should make future launches safer ???

Spent yesterday finishing the spring planting before going to a Texas Independence Day party. Got a nice shower but nothing severe. Since today was dreary and cool, we went to the Museum of Natural History. They did a nice job on the recent remodel. I could live in the butterfly rainforest and be as happy as a clam. It was great in there today.
