January 2025
Wednesday we will still have plenty snow/ice on the ground. Wont warm too much Wednesday so travel (atleast) morning travel will be impacted Im sure. Here in Beaumont they are urging to not get out if you dont have to for Monday night thru Wednesday. My work has already called Tuesday/Wednesdays to work from home.

Completely agree! He’s been wrong before, but I think he’ll be spot on with this one.Cpv17 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:31 pmJust stick with Herzog on ABC. They said they “split the difference” with the GFS and Euro models, and have their official forecast showing 1-2 inches below I-10 and 2-4 inches above I-10 for Harris County. Think they’re going to be surprised with what transpires…
I like the way the models have trended today. Hope the good trends keep coming!

Wxman57 on the other forum saying the 18z GFS shows no snow inside 610 and very little inside the beltway. What am I missing here?? I saw the maps from total snowfall showing upwards of 5 inches in the city. I’m confused…

Yes, but I don’t understand his interpretation of the snowfall map that came out with the 18z GFS. He sees one thing (no snow depicted for Houston), and others see something entirely different (significant snow for Houston).Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:48 pmHe also said they were wrong of course being this far out..txsnowmaker wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:46 pm Wxman57 on the other forum saying the 18z GFS shows no snow inside 610 and very little inside the beltway. Slightly further south and hanging some decent totals back further west.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:48 pmWhat were trends haven't been paying to much attention today

It's an output map..don't focus to hard on where it shows the snow..EVERYONE EVERYWHERE in southeast Texas is going to see snow..now how much is still to early to say but it's a given everyone will see snow..rather it be just snow or mixed with rain, freezing rain, sleet or whatevertxsnowmaker wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:51 pmYes, but I don’t understand his interpretation of the snowfall map that came out with the 18z GFS. Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 7:05 pmHow is Galveston at a 60% chance of seeing 1” or more of snow than lake Jackson at only 29% lol that doesn’t make any sense
I think the projections will change as we get closer to the event. Sunday will be the day to really narrow it down.
Because Galveston is further N. There’s a big gradient right now on the models between Galveston and LJ.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 7:05 pmHow is Galveston at a 60% chance of seeing 1” or more of snow than lake Jackson at only 29% lol that doesn’t make any sense

The dividing line between all snow and a mix of snow/sleet and ice, that’s what a gradient is

Pretty good confidence mostly snow and some sleet north of I-10. Possible some rain/freezing rain to start off the event but soundings support a near perfect environment for snow down here. Two key things to keep an eye on for precip is banding and a dry slot that could appear somewhere across the region. Models have been showing this setup for a while with the general trend that this dry slot would appear closer to the coast. Overall, 1-2 inches of snow looks pretty widespread with isolated areas of 6 inches. I would even dare to say somewhere across SE Texas someone will see 10-12 inches of snow (likely north and east of Houston). Wednesday morning lows will really depend on where and how much snow falls. Areas that see 3-6 inches will likely see 10s with others seeing low 20s.
