Yeah, the Harris county gauges show 2.5'' around the Cypress Creek and Huffmeister rd area. Be on the lookout for some street flooding due to the fact that all of that fell in an hours time.Snowman wrote:WOW in cypress we have recieved 2.5 inches of rain in the past hour.

Good to see the Heat will return after these couple of days of rain. I hope we keep the warmth around as long as seasonally possible. I am going to miss summer when the cold crappy gray days show up.

awesome link - thank you !svrwx0503 wrote:You can check out our network of stations around the region using the link below. The site I was referring to above is our West Liberty one.

I saw those thunderstorms in this morning when I gazed at the Dopplar Radar on my cell phone after I woke up. I wondered if they were going to make it to southeast Texas to give us any alleviation at all. We certainly have our answer by how much cooler it feels outside right now.

So, is today's high going to be in the eighties due to the cloud cover and rain?

That's probably thanks to subsidence on the fringe of the advancing storms this afternoon.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
249 PM CDT THU AUG 19 2010
.DISCUSSION...
THE CHANCE FOR SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE FOR THE REST OF THE
AFTERNOON AND ON THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS AS BOUNDARIES CONTINUE
TO WORK THEIR WAY WELL INLAND AND ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY CONTINUES TO MOVE
IN OFF THE COAST. DESPITE TODAY`S RAINS...HEAT INDEX VALUES ALREADY
REACHED AT OR ABOVE 105 DEGREES ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA. WITH LESS RAIN
ANTICIPATED TOMORROW AND EVEN LOWER RAIN CHANCES AND WARMER TEMPERATURES
EXPECTED OVER THE WEEKEND AS UPPER LEVEL RIDGING STRENGTHENS AND PRECIPITABLE
WATER VALUES DECREASE...WILL GO AHEAD AND EXTEND THE HEAT ADVISORY ALL
THE WAY OUT THROUGH SUNDAY. THE ADVISORY WILL PROBABLY NEED TO GO OUT
EVEN FURTHER THAN THAT...AND THAT DECISION WILL BE MADE OVER THE WEEKEND.
NEXT WEEK`S FORECAST IS UNCERTAIN AT THIS TIME. THE GFS DEVELOPS AN
UPPER LEVEL LOW IN THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO AND EVENTUALLY BRINGS
IT AND MUCH DEEPER MOISTURE INTO OUR AREA. THE ECMWF DEVELOPS THE SAME
EASTERN GULF LOW BUT DOES NOT BRING IT THIS WAY. IT KEEPS THE MAJORITY
OF ENERGY AND ASSOCIATED MOISTURE WELL EAST OF OUR AREA. DECIDED TO
GO AHEAD AND RAISE POPS JUST A LITTLE - FROM 20% TO 30% - BEGINNING
ON WEDNESDAY TO ACCOUNT FOR THE MUCH WETTER GFS PICTURE. IF THE ECMWF
ENDS UP BEING CORRECT...AUGUST 2010 IS PROBABLY GOING TO END UP BEING
ONE OF THE WARMEST AUGUSTS ON RECORD FOR OUR AREA. 42

Upper 90's to low 100's beyond Saturday would be my guess sleetstorm. Although there is a feature that the models are showing in the Northern Gulf region next week. Perhaps some clouds and a little better rain chances by mid week. We shall see.

AUGUST 2010 IS PROBABLY GOING TO END UP BEING
ONE OF THE WARMEST AUGUSTS ON RECORD FOR OUR AREA.
Just makes me feel warm inside. My race August 28 will be toasty. Not even going to push the pace at all. Lovely.

So basically the answer I am getting when I ask the question when is the heat wave going to break? NO ONE KNOWS. It could continue well into September. No long range forecast yet stating that the heat wave will be breaking.

nope...Patricia..your typical Summer heat still holds strong as far as I can see......SR did state something in the GOM next week...none of the models really seeing it right now...we shall see...break out the sprinklers.
