Re: January 2021
This is from my old Texas Weather book. The caption reads “Snowfall totals (inches) for January 8 - 11, 1973. Re: November 2020
The longer the cold stays bottled up north, the colder we could get down here with an Arctic dip. Although with almost zero snow pack, the effect greatly diminishes.
Just talked myself back in to no excitement. The weather is affecting the deer rut as well.
Blah....

Re: First Cold Front
Knew the models were wrong!!! Always are this early in sept with cold fronts Models 7 - 10 days out with that level of depth protruding that far south seem to ALWAYS be wrong, even in the depths of winter. I look at them, my eyes glaze over with wistful thoughts of "just maybe..." and the...

Re: September 2020
This is just for fun, but the GFS has a big front coming down towards the end of the run. Lows in the low 50’s. Either way it means fall will be here before we know it. If we could get just ONE mosquito and bug killing cold snap to actually follow through on the models this year, I would be happy. ...

People are overreacting like crazy over the virus. You can thank the media for it. They’re just looking for headliners to get a rating bump. This is the biggest farce of all times. Pure media play + politically motivated and stock market shorted to the Nth degree. Come on...a TV copter showing a te...

That's Texas weather for you! Trees start budding a month early, bluebonnets start sprouting and Winter says, "Ummm...oh no you don't. I still have a say-so around here."

Re: January 2020: Unsettled WX Week Ahead
"We've had very little rain until 5 days ago (0.30 in over mid-December to mid-January), and the weeds are nuts in the back (where I put less pre-emergence). We've had no deep freeze. Right now, we have the most weeds I've ever seen in January - probably ever. Out comes the lawn mower!" Sp...

Re: January 2020: Starting off the new decade cool and wet
Looks like we aren't getting into the 30s again until February. Winter cancel I've been saying that. Nobody will believe me. Pretty sure I do believe you, I just don't want to admit that the chances for really solid cold weather are over. Now, we all know our summer hating buddy from Montgomery Cou...

Re: January 2020: Starting off the new decade cool and wet
There were Robins in my pasture yesterday. Not a lone, lost Robin...many , many Robin's. For those of us that do enjoy some winter cold and occasional "wintery mischief" that's a wee bit early to be seeing them and not a good sign.

Re: November 2019: Slow Warming Trend/Thanksgiving Outlook
Great weather for starwatching with the telescope. 8-) [/quote] 100 % correct. The sky is clear and, here in Grimes County as of a little bit ago, dark enough to see a magnificent star field. Hot, cold, wet or dry, we here in Texas are blessed with differences in weather. Those who lament "bori...

Re: EARLY INPUT FOR FALL WEATHER
There is no meteorological expertise within my brain that could produce a prediction with any merit. But, as a life long resident of this part of Texas, my gut "feeling" is that the really hot summer temps started way too late and the warmth will linger into fall. Not oppressively hot, jus...

Re: August 2019: The Heat Is On
Played golf at The A&M course today. Felt pretty OK at 10am but man oh man, once the sun got overheard the heat of the air became stifling. Being born and raised in these parts, I can stay outside all day as long as I stay hydrated. Still, today was booger bear hot. Yowza. Is it too soon to have...

Re: January 2019 - Winter is Coming!
This will be a very long stretch of the imagination and wish-casting!! This morning while in the deer stand I saw 2 separate, massive flocks of small black birds flying south. Both made the sound of approaching rain and wind. The numbers of birds was far into the 10's of thousands in each flock. It ...

This site helped tremendously in my company's prep for Harvey, as we were watching the long range discussions. It has also helpe...
