Re: Severe Weather 2024

Based on a very early look at data, I’m thinking that large tornado tonight in western Kentucky will likely
Be classified as an EF-5.

Re: May 2024

I grew up at a very similar latitude and mostly similar
climate in SW Louisiana.

It was hot in the Summer growing up, but I’m hard pressed to remember hating Summer this much. Lol.

Perhaps it’s just me getting older.

Re: Severe Weather 2024

A white cone tornado blew up about 5:20 pm right in front of Reed Timmer in north Texas. Enough to elicit an F-bomb! It was pretty spectacular. TWC naturally was on preprogrammed grok about Canada - not even the Ice Truckers. TWC is practically unwatchable now. There are so many other options these...

You could see the cap out the window, along with the supercells to the north.

Re: May 2024

Almost forgot…..

I took this video of these severe storms from 38,000 feet on my flight out of Hobby late May 9 evening. The video is not sped up. That lightning was real-time. Beautiful/eery sight.

Re: 2024 Hurricane Season Discussion

From Travis Herzog of ABC 13 in Houston... By now you've probably seen the hurricane outlook NOAA released today calling for a very active season, but you may have never seen the eye-opening maps I'm posting for you here. One of the main drivers of the anticipated active hurricane season ahead is th...

Re: May 2024

I really dont see any sort of big heat ridge setup in the guidance anytime soon or even perhaps for the next few weeks, GFS continues to see a couple of cold fronts sliding through over the next few weeks! We shall see I'll believe it when I see it. I feel like we are charging forward to another sc...

Re: May 2024

Reed Timmer just filmed the wildest tornado I have ever seen in my life. https://youtu.be/R_ZDVYzIhgc?si=vSH5CzhhwanB6nEF I watched it live. It destroyed several wind turbines and started a huge fire from one. It had at least 3 distinct vortices with it I got several screenshots of it. Insane.

What started your interest in weather?

Was it a singular event? A collection of weather events? Always love to hear other stories. Mine was a singular event - Hurricane Danny (especially the eye) in 1985 as a 5yr old in South Louisiana. I vividly remember playing with a Smurfs Colorform sticker set my mother had gotten for me to pass the...

Re: May 2024

This is the way I see this Summer playing out...... Most (rightfully so North of Houston) are complaining about the rain. Don't blame them for a second. Many (south of Houston) are meh....could've used more rain, but at least it wasn't zilch. We are all complaining about the mosquitoes right now, a...

Blue line = cold. right? Because blue usually = cold. Kidding.

Don't mind me.....just trying to bury my head in the sand for now regarding this season.
