I looked at past hourly weather reports. Houston has seen night time thunderstorms in Christmas 1982 and 2024. There were thunderstorms when 1979 started. A rare event to see thunderstorms on Christmas and New Years.

Christmas 1916 is the wettest Christmas recorded in Houston. There were probably thunderstorms in Christmas 1916.

The December 1983 freeze had freezing drizzle as it was very cold.
