September 1936 will be remembered as the wettest September on record for Texas. This is due to heavy rain events in West Texas from a stationary front and Tropical Storm #14 remnant. Once it was all done, San Angelo and West Texas flooded. Some areas saw over 30 inches of rain. This happened after a dry August. There was a heat wave in the summer of 1936 that plagued the Central Plains including Texas. In fact the 1936 heat wave is considered the hottest on record. Summer of 1936 is the hottest summer on record after a cold winter of 1935-1936.
