A few years back, one of my coworkers designed a meteogram spreadsheet in Excel. The graphics have been quite popular here, so I thought I would share the technique and files with everyone here. This may also save me from many requests of "make one for my area, please!". ;-)

The meteogram spreadsheets below were crafted for the GFS run. However, they can be easily modified to make meteograms from the NAM/ETA or any other model data. I'll post links to NAM/ETA versions in the future.

First thing you'll need is a copy of Microsoft Excel, 2007 or later. If necessary, I can create an Excel 2003 version, but you really should update to a modern version of Excel.

Here are the links to the files:

The tutorial takes you through the production step-by-step, with pictures and arrows. The process may look a bit complex, but once you make a few of them you'll find that the whole process takes about 60 seconds.

GFS 192-384hr Meteogram:

And here's an example I made this morning using the 12Z GFS (0-192hr) GFS for IAH:

That ARL site I linked to allows one to make a meteogram for anywhere, not just a big airport. All you need to know is the lat/lon:

I use Open Office, which I don't think can make meteograms. Anyways, I have made separate graphs for temperature and rainfall. 8-) I use the link that WXMan57 posted.

Due to the "404 Not Found" messages, I'm assuming that new files will have to be made for this year?

I believe wxman57 has a new web link. Perhaps he will see this and provide an update...;)

The tutorial and GFS spreadsheets have been moved to another server and updated. Links should work now.
