Wxman57 was reading what 99% pro Mets would read in the exact same situation. It’s weather and Mother Earth all stired by the finger of God! Anything can and will happen!

Feels pretty good outside. I’d like it about 10-15 degrees colder but I won’t complain. Back porch fire weather tonight with bourbon and chili.

It’s honestly not even that cold outside. Mid 50’s here. The temp has actually risen a few degrees today. I thought it would be slowly falling throughout the day. This isn’t much of a cold snap lol

The sun makes all the difference in how it feels...I can’t remember the last time I saw this much wind for so long with a front....anxiously awaiting the final forecast number for tonight. I hope it’s not an advective freeze but the wind doesn’t seem to want to slow down. Maybe it will calm down after sunset :crosses fingers:

I’m actually glad to see the sun lol wish we could get 2 weeks of clear blue skies like this. It’s such a pig slop outside especially when you live out in the country like I do. Definitely have to take your shoes off at the door and you can forget about having a clean vehicle.

Brilliant sun here. A really good day even with the wind.

sunshine = really good medicine :)

wind was/is crazy though

I did see a power flash early this morning & a neighbor a couple doors down had a palm tree drop in their yard, thankfully not on anyone's home, just a fence taken out - tree & fence both taken care of now, that was quick

some outages across the area, nothing major (unless it's your home) http://gis.centerpointenergy.com/outage ... index.html

covering plants in the cold wind is never a favorite of mine, but better than losing them to a frost or freeze I guess, a forecast of 30 for us in Cypress

Yeah, it felt pretty decent out in the sun today, especially behind a wind break.

My forecast low for tonight is 30. Time for a beer and to go cover everything up. There will be wind overnight but the good news is all of my tender plants are along the south side of a fence under a shade canopy.

Tomorrow looks like a beautiful day once it warms up a little. The hardest decision will be what to get at the HEB meat counter. :)

Edit: just covered everything up. Not terribly cold but that @*^%@*% wind is relentless!! I hope I don't wake-up to covers all over my lawn (instead of the beds).

I just checked outside. Covers still intact, but the wind is still gusting pretty strong. Geez! I just want it to stop.

Holy smokes the FV3 is cold for us. From January 23rd to February 5th, it doesn’t have temps reaching 60 degrees for most areas of southeast Texas with a few days in the 20’s and 30’s with winter weather nearby as well. Look at this setup..it’s pretty nice!

The RGEM seems to be more in line and it may still be a degree or 2 warm

I think the next 30 days is going to be not only a big forecast challenge but much colder than what is being shown now...the question is will we have moisture at the opportune times?

0z Euro has snow not too far away. Austin gets some light accumulations for Wednesday. Hopefully our central TX friends can get something out of this.

Ultimately, to me, it’s going to depend on the ridge to our west. If that ridge gets into Texas, forget about it. If it can stay far enough away like the pic I just posted of the FV3 then I like our chances. Just need the STJ to stay active and have a shortwave dig into Mexico and we’ll be in business. Basically, this is what the models are showing for Wednesday, but it’ll be 5-10 degrees too warm it looks like.
