I have some good news for those of you who are planning on either riding to Austin this weekend or volunteering. Although model runs from a few days ago indicated the potential for heavy rain/storms during the day on Sunday (between La Grange and Austin), model runs yesterday and today push back the rain chances to Sunday night/Monday morning.

The 3 meteograms below indicate dry conditions both days with lows in the 60s and highs in the mid to upper 70s. And to top it off, riders will have a southeasterly wind that should help push them down the road. Can't ask for too much better than that.

My wife will be riding again this year. Too many people for me, so I'll be riding in-town.

Note the difference in vertical rainfall scales for Houston vs. Austin & La Grange. The scale for Houston goes to 1 inch while the other scales are only to 1/2 inch. Much more rain is forecast for Houston.

12Z Euro, just in, agrees with the GFS as far as the timing of any rainfall (late Sunday evening to Monday morning), but it has less rain for Texas, particularly for Houston.

Overnight models continue in agreement on good riding weather for this weekend. Rain olds off until Sunday night/Monday morning. Highs near 80-82 Saturday and a low in the 62-64 range in La Grange Sunday morning. High near 80 Sunday. Tail wind (from cyclists' left rear) most of the way. Can't ask for much better.
