Here is an interesting story about the Astros rainout from the June 15, 1976 rain and flood event. The Texas Medical Center was flooded that time prior to Allison. The rain event was primary south of I-10 as areas north of it got less rain.

That event was again near the Medical Center and points E. Water rose so quickly it flooled S Main/Fannin and cars we stuck on the S Loop E as well as 225. The Astros players were unable to get to the Dome and water spilled down the ramp that goes into centerfield.

I could have sworn Allison was in 2001. Maybe I am losing it, but I swear it was June 2001.

There were two Tropical Storm Allisons that made landfall in 1989 and 2001. Both occurred in June and they made loops over Texas. 1989 Allison made landfall in late June. The 1989 Allison dumped up to 20 inches of rain in Southeast Texas. The heaviest rain from 1989 Allison was in Central Louisiana, up to 30 inches fell.tireman4 wrote: I could have sworn Allison was in 2001. Maybe I am losing it, but I swear it was June 2001.
The 2001 Allison made landfall in early June and dumped up o 40 inches of rain in 5 days, including 28 inches in 12 hours in Greens Bayou. It claimed a total of 42 lives in America, including 21 in the Houston area. It also did $5 billion of damage in the Houston area alone.
1989 Allison

2001 Allison
The 1989 Allison came not too long after the May 1989 flood. Up to 15 inches of rain fell in 24 hours. It was a catastrophic flood after large storms from a upper level low pressure system over the Four Corners formed in Central Texas. Tornadoes were reported in that area. Than it went over Southeast Texas and stalled out. Individual thunderstorms were moving fast, but the whole system was stalled out.tireman4 wrote:Ahh. So I was half right. Thanks for that.
