If this makes it to the western Caribbean before completely fading away, then we'll just have to see. It may be very sick at this point, but until there is a death certificate. At any rate, even if it did survive to the gulf, the southern Gulf region would be where it would end up. Then staying on that westward path would allow little time to do much. This is how it all looks right now. First thing is to see if he survives.

Poor Gaston... He hasn't poofed yet, and I had high hopes for him, post Atlantic. He did not go north like the others, but he's gasping for life. Will he survive????? We will know in a day or two.

that's a nice close-up, but if you look at the bigger picture
http://weather.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/goeseastfullir.html it looks more like the description the NHC gives it in their 8 PM Advisory:
THE REMNANTS OF GASTON...LOCATED SOUTH OF HISPANIOLA...ARE PRODUCING
DISORGANIZED SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. DEVELOPMENT OF THIS
SYSTEM IS NOT EXPECTED AS IT MOVES WESTWARD OR WEST-SOUTHWESTWARD
AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THERE IS A LOW CHANCE...NEAR 0 PERCENT...OF THIS
SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE AGAIN DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
of course, never say never...

I broke my fork off in the last gone and forgotten system. Lol
There is still a very small amount of life to ex Gaston, but it's just not going to happen with this poor soul. Dan, as we kill another one, and once again turn the page on Hurricane season 2010, you are forever on our minds.
