Lake Charles issues Freeze Warning tonight for Jefferson county. Also updated today forecast showing sleet to continue on and off as it has been doing. Have a feeling we all will see a lower low tonight than whats forecasted.

Depends on the dew point, wind speed, and cloud cover.

So daily record low maximum temperature record may tie this date in 2014. SE Texas experienced an Ice Storm on this date 5 years ago on March 4, 2014.

Feels amazing outside. I wish we could have had another week or two of this during Jan/Feb.

The final NWS number for me is 28. Will prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I think “amazing” is about the last word I’d use the descibe this awful, cold, gray, blustery weather.

Thank God it’s March and we can finally be done with this garbage soon.

This weather is why they make greenhouses! I've covered our new rose bushes yesterday, but they're going to be toast.

Hopefully will kill some insects.

A good quality greenhouse (that will pass our HOA requirements) will run into the tens of thousands of dollars to install. I love my plants but not that much. Plus, that yard space needs a pool and fire pit.

OK, time to bundle-up and tackle the yard. This cold stings. Ugh.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
612 PM CST Mon Mar 4 2019

.UPDATE...
12-14 hours of freezing or below across the north and 8-12 hours
of subfreezing for the southern areas in the freeze warning. Skies
should start to scatter out between 03-09z and after expect
favorable conditions - dewpoints in the 16-25 degree range
already and light north winds - for excellent radiational
cooling to take place.

It is official...College Station set a record low maximum
temperature today only warming up to 35! The previous record was
40 degrees in 2014. Crushed it.

Have the faucets in the house dripping. Better to be safe than sorry. Our outside faucets are covered. Not sure what will happen with the plants as we just had everything trimmed back 10 days ago.

Everything is covered-up as best as possible. That wind is still cutting pretty good out there. It’ll blow right through that freeze cloth.

35 here now.

It sure is! Even this Wisconsin born and bred gal is saying it is COLD! The blood does thin out after living in Texas for 30 years. AND it is a different type of cold. Damp cold here, crispy cold in Wisconsin. ;)

I'm predicted to get down to 32 for an hour. I couldn't care less and enjoy another opportunity to not run the AC

See 2014 and 2002. They happen more than you’d think.

Very true.

1923, 1932, 1943, 1978, 1980, and 1989 to name a few.

It snowed on March 10-11, 1932.

A cold morning across SE TX as the skies cleared overnight. Upper 20s N and NW of Houston, 30-32F across Houston metro and 32-33F along the coastal counties. Galveston Island is currently at 36F. Freezing temps will be possible inland mainly N of Houston metro Wednesday morning before we transition to Spring weather Thursday and Friday. High temps in the mid 70s Friday - Sunday with showers and thunderstorms.

The SPC has a large 15% risk area from from east Texas/Louisiana across the Lower Mississippi Valley and Gulf Coast for Saturday. The risk area is NE of Houston-Galveston areas but something to watch through the week for any shift SW. The Spring severe weather season has arrived as the active pattern continues but will be glad to have the mid 70s back.

28.7 here. Will assess any freeze damage in a couple of days. Little concerned since the wind kept up all night.

On the bright side - yes - at least the sun is shining!!
