Everything looks to be going as planed so far over the next few hours i expect the frozen line to reach atleast the northern half of Harris county. As some places are already reporting sleet along I-10 just to the west of the county.
Could be very close to the model consensus.

Rain, graupel, and sleet here now. It’s loud. It sounds like a slopfest falling from the sky.
Rapid cooling through. That was the key here. The mix was so intense that it cooled the atmospheric column down to near freezing and let the snow through.

Edit: ...but then again, Beaumont has had its fair share of wild crazy weather this past year. But it would have been nice to have a wild snowstorm thats something non-damaging.

It’s truly amazing at how much just an upper level low combined with a surface low just offshore is impacting temperatures here in southeast Texas. This isn’t even an Artic airmass or really not even a Canadian airmass for that matter. This low is so strong that it’s just sucking down cold air from up north into it. Imagine how cold it would be with this setup with an Artic high dropping south out of western Canada.
