I grew up in Longview, Northeast Texas, and I can remember maybe one or two Halloween’s where it was in the 40s. It’s not impossible, but extremely rare.... and I’m talking about Longview, not Houston.
Was not last year cold?

Halloween last year was in the mid 60s when trick or treating started around 530. It was very comfortable but certainly not remotely close to cold.

In mid October back in 1987 I was visiting family in San Antonio and had a cold front barreled through. We had 2 days of deep blue, sunny skies with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. Seems like a fantasy now.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 8:56 amI grew up in Longview, Northeast Texas, and I can remember maybe one or two Halloween’s where it was in the 40s. I'm speaking to highs not lows.... I remember the first year in our current house there in Montgomery County (2014)... Halloween weekend got down into the mid 40s as Trick or Treating wrapped up.
40s for lows in October isn't that rare in Houston and has happened a handful of times this past decade.

If I recall correctly, last year it was chilly on Halloween and had some nice Arctic blasts in November. Had me all excited thinking wow we may get a “real Houston” winter. Psssh it didn’t get below freezing lol
I remember last Halloween very well also. It was very chilly. Definitely not in the mid 60’s. Local news even talked about how it was one of the coldest Houston Halloweens on record. If you go to Accuweather, you can search back to 2019, and Houston had a high of 55 and low of 39 on 10/31/19.
October 8-9 2000 we had highs of 50 and 53and was mostly in the 40’s all day raining. The month before in September we hit 109 at Bush so it felt really cold. Brownsville I remember even had a high of 49.
I remember it being quite chilly on Halloween last year. I was riding around the neighborhood in a golf cart wearing a gloves and a knit hat.
Likelihood of rain today as this first front comes through later?

Wouldn’t count on much. Probably some scattered showers with the frontal passage.
I have a 50% today and 60% tonight. It goes back up to 30% on Tuesday and 40% on Wednesday.
Looks like a nice weekend ahead.

Looks like the line is holding together good so far
I don't think even the AggieDome or Jason's backyard can stop this line.
Liquid Precip falling! We've had about 0.3 inch since September 28th. Delta botched a nice pattern we were on.

The rain cometh...
Wow, gusts over 40mph here. Thunder getting closer. Yard littered with debris in 30 seconds.
