September 2020:
Here we go again guys...get your sleep after Laura. We have lemonade.

So what your'e saying is, after Laura destroys your home, just leave it alone until after hurricane season? Because that's what I'm looking at.
COVID-19 pandemic remains a threat.
Now that everyone got a test run in, let's hope we don't have to put our re-honed prep skills to the test again anytime soon.
The ICON, CMC, and UKMET all have something in the Caribbean in about a week from now.
Here’s the ICON:

The UKMet also supports some potential tropical mischief near the Western Caribbean. The tropical wave responsible for this potential activity is not the wave being tagged by the NHC. The wave to monitor is nearing 42 W.

Now being monitored by the NHC...

I will say this, if there's anything about 'tropical mischief' season (to use srain's phrasing) it certainly provides a chance to hone those model and atmospheric dynamics watching skills. We could see September's thread accumulate pages rather quickly. Just need to catch our breaths after watching Laura.

I count 4 potential areas of interest over the next 10 days on the ECMWF chart. At day 8 those areas of interest stretch from the W/SW Caribbean Sea to a potential Hurricane nearing the Caribbean Islands, another mid way across the Atlantic and a vigorous wave exiting West Africa.

Here we go again.
I've learned my lesson on NHC consensus, though.
I've learned my lesson on NHC consensus, though.

I’ve decided to keep my house windows covered until we pass the peak of the season. One thing I’ve learned about 2020 is be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.

This is just for fun, but the GFS has a big front coming down towards the end of the run. Lows in the low 50’s. Either way it means fall will be here before we know it.

If we could get just ONE mosquito and bug killing cold snap to actually follow through on the models this year, I would be happy. It seems like we've had dozens just shift off to the east before blowing on through to the gulf over the last few years.TXWeatherMan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 2:46 am This is just for fun, but the GFS has a big front coming down towards the end of the run. Give me a REAL Blue Norther with the clear blue skies for days afterwards. Been missing those for a while. A long while.
Have a great weekend everyone. Continued prayers for our friends to the east. Gonna be a haul of a recovery.
