Hurricane Central is mainly used for non local area threats and future system development potential.
If Laura comes ashore near the TX/LA border, what kinds of bad weather will the north Houston suburbs experience? If any?

Something to keep an eye on that others have mentioned.

is there still a chance she goes to Lake Charles or east of there?
Has the recon data started coming in? Any idea when? Thanks in advance.

Center is, technically, still south of 25°N; slightly south of where it appears on satellite. RECON just missed the center, but looking like another 1-2 MB pressure drop since last pass; 981 or 982 MB.
EDIT: Drop had higher winds, 15 KT, estimated pressure may be 979 or 980 MB.

Gracious. Wishing everyone in the path much safety!!!
Starting to feel better about the trends.

I am as well, but won’t really feel comfortable until tomorrow morning. Lots can change and the center can jog in any direction. Just praying it keeps east of here. I’m prepared for a direct hit as best as possible but my wife and I are expecting our baby tonight/tomorrow so hoping to not deal with the outcome of this storm afterwards.

Let’s hope the models don’t shift west overnight like they have the last few nights.
Shot in the dark, but guessing folks west of 45 aren't going to see much. Need some rain out here in Cypress, but not Hurricane/TS stuff. NWS has a 60% chance of "showers" for Cypress Wednesday/Thursday morning.
haha That was a classic. My wife gave me a hard time for boarding up the house, because it was so dark on the inside without sunlight. Both Rita and Ike produce a tropical storm force winds, but not much rain. Hot as hell!Tx2005 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 6:45 pmMy main Rita memory in College Station was that picture of Loupot’s boarding up on the wrong side.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 6:40 pm I pissed into a 35 mph breeze off the back porch of Northgate in CS to give College Station it’s trace amount of precip from Rita.

I remember people were taping their windows and apartment complexes were sending letters to tenants saying based on previous hurricanes BCS will experience hurricane force winds. The grocery stores had empty shelves, gas lines were multiple cars deep, and some store in Navasota was selling water for like $30 a case.
Good ole Rita

It seems based on the last 3 recon fixes that Laura’s moving just north of due west. Can’t be great for Houston if that continues
Laura is wobbling west now.

Actually I’m right West of 45 & very near the red zone for winds. Every possible wobble or inch to the west matters a lot to me. I’m just a few streets away from that zone.
Shes getting her attitude on this evening
