This supercell is very potent please stay weather aware folks.
We had swirling winds 40 mph, gusting to over 50 mph. Just a bit of outdoor furniture tossing. 0.85 inches out of it. Could have been more, but good enough.
Round 2 is possible tonight. Keep an eye out for cells approaching Killeen.

Paint Rock is getting hammered right now.
I had about the same here. The rain is just now starting to wind-down a bit so the verdict is still out on the total (.53" so far).
The winds were probably the longest period of 40-50 mph winds/gusts I've seen since Hurricane Ike. The lone exception may have been that overnight MCS that came through either last year or year before (it's a blur now) along I-10 that just endlessly dumped flooding rains as the inflow kept feeding it. I think the winds were more sustained and longer in this one though.
This was the last post I read on this forum yesterday. I remember checking HGX and seeing a typical 30% chance of rain summer-esque pattern. Then 5 minutes ago in the Clear Lake Area I heard an explosion that took me a second to realize was thunder. Then I checked HGX again and saw hell and high water was rolling into town.djmike wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 12:31 pm So is that it? Last week and weekend qpf and many BPT mets made it seem like it was gonna be a possible flooding event. We got maybe two moderate rain showers and that was it. Looks like nothing forecasted really but maybe a 30-40% pop up showers remaining of the week. I was expecting washouts all Sun-Tues. NWS at one point showed 70% for Tues wed and thurs...oh well, blessed to have gotten some rain.
Big rain event forecasted and busts. Big rain event forecasted and busts. Typical summer pattern forecasted and Hell's Fury decides to visit. It's a bit exhausting at times.
I know! I was there this weekend.

Winds have been gusting up to 60 mph here for the last 20 minutes pretty potent line with reports of powerlines down in Katy.
Looks gnarly facing north towards Manvel.

A good 10-15 minutes of sustained intensity similar to that. The blowing rain probably caused me to overestimate the rainfall total.Waded wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 4:42 pmThis was the last post I read on this forum yesterday. The MCS is hauling @$$ to the coast.
See where they are predicting a 2nd line to setup shop later and potentially be worse?
Im a little concerned there may be more instability than anticipated for the storms tonight as the sun is trying to come back out already.
