Yes, the Pro Mets here are sooooo awesome! They have been talking about this for days and days before the event. I always come here for the real scoop when it comes to weather. I became worried when they became worried. Thank you everyone here!GBinGrimes wrote:Looking back through this thread...wow. From Friday August 18. This one really hits home.
This is why we look to the forecasts of weather and are so blessed to have the pro mets here that talk to us about it, explain it and let us know what could POSSIBLY happen so we can be prepared IF it happens.

Thanks everyone as always for keeping us all informed. Sun is out a bit. Hopefully, this will give everyone a chance to recover a bit.

Controlled releases increased to 16000 cfs. Buffalo Bayou is stable. Current thinking is that there may not be uncontrolled overflow at the spillways. They are attempting to lower levels before rainfall returns.davidiowx wrote:srainhoutx wrote:davidiowx wrote:Any update on addicks and buffalo bayou? Didn't get any update.. please let me know. Past several days grand total for rain in my area (north Harris) was 30 inches! The largest total was Clear Creek/League City 50 or so inches from the FWS site. Average YEARLY rain is 45 inches. Unbelievable!!!

58 inches would be the wettest tropical cyclone in America. That exceeds Hurricane Hiki (1950) that affected Hawaii.Texaspirate11 wrote:Total 58 inches of rain in my rain gauge.

I think 2017 is safe to say will be wettest year on record as we have September to December. October is one of the wettest month on average.

A large area got 30 inches of rain. I cannot think of any rain event that comes close. There have been massive rain events like July 1869, June 1899, December 1913, September 1921, June 1932, June 1935, September 1936, June 1954, August 1978, July 1979, October 1994, and October 1998 Flood.TexasBreeze wrote:Past several days grand total for rain in my area (north Harris) was 30 inches!
