Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
1241 PM CDT Mon Aug 28 2017
.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 1035 AM CDT Mon Aug 28 2017/
UPDATE...
Continuing current watches and warnings. Heaviest rainfall from
Harvey at 10:30 AM was located just to the north of the storm's
center across Brazoria County and another maximum area across
Chambers into Harris. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour
will be common in these heavier bands.
It should be stressed that ongoing rainfall will continue to
impact areas where flooding is occurring. Travel from a safe
location into areas where flooding is occurring is strongly
discouraged.

That is just a lot of rain.
My wife is trying to get home to Rosharon from League City where she was trapped since Friday. Managed to make it up to Bwy8 bujt trying to find a way to get to 288 to make it Theresa of the way south. This rain south of Houston is just awful right now.

Yes. Since Friday beaumont has received 36 inches. Looks like harvey is pumping more moisture into itself and ready to dump on hou/bmt again. We are not out of this by a long shot.

I bet the backyard in our old house and nearby creek is flooded. I had to kick the fence down to let thigh deep water out in the Oct 1994 flooding rain (EPAC moisture). We moved to higher ground just before Ike.GBinGrimes wrote:Driving in from Anderson to College Station this morning, a lot has changed from yesterday.
Numerous snapped trees on County Roads north of 90, must have been a wind event during the overnight hours as they were not there yesterday afternoon.
Holland Creek and Spring Creek are well out of bank along highway 90 between Anderson and Navasota. Pastures in the area a now lakes and streams.
Between Navasota and College Station, the Navasota River has risen to about 15 feet from the bridge and is flooding surrounding pastures. Peach Creek and Jones Creek are well out of bank also and both less than 10 feet from going over their bridges. It looks like a lake along both sides of 6 almost to the Texas World Speedway exit heading north on 6. No where else for the water to go except up and further out.
With Harvey sending more wraparound rain now coming in from the Northeast, there is not much more water that this area can take, and then it has to go downstream. Mercy, this is unbelievable.
Jeff presently live at a news conference and actually mentioned subdivisions that might get flooded if Addicks water comes around the dam.
Unless I'm wrong about where the center is, it looks to me that it is unlikely that the NHC's official track for Harvey will verify. It looks like it's slowly moving north east now and it definitely does not look like it is moving south

Guessing the circulation is hugging the coast just NE of Matagorda Bay moving NE. Seems like a small dry spot NE of the center. Anybody else see this?Snowman wrote:Unless I'm wrong about where the center is, it looks to me that it is unlikely that the NHC's official track for Harvey will verify. This is amazing and describes just what has happened these last few days. Thanks for sharing!
Srain, you, and so many others that we have seen on the news, are a great inspiration for all. People helping people is what this is all about. Thanks to you all!
Srain do you really think that we are going to get another 15 inches of rain in the next couple of days? It looks like the heaviest rain is shifting east and the storm is choking on dry air. Unless something major changes I don't see how we get 15-20 more inches of rainsrainhoutx wrote:Updated 3 Day Quantitative Precipitation Forecast Outlook from the Weather Prediction Center.
Is there a good list of cumulative rainfall totals for Pearland going back to Thursday night?
What is the cumulative rainfall total for the Pearland area since Thursday night?

Just curious, what is the best website for road closures, flooded roads, and evacuations?
Thanks in advance and be safe.
