Ch 2 saying NWS about to issue Flash Flood Emergency for southern Harris and eastern Ft. Bend.
Spent about 15 minutes in the closet for that last tornado warning in SW Houston. Not fun
The 18Z Navgem has a scary run.Harvey moves offshore around Brownsville back into the GOM and comes back onshore around Freeport.

In the October 1994 flood, I had to kick down the fence to let water out of the backyard towards the front and street. It was like a tub full of murky rain water, thigh deep.mckinne63 wrote:We just got hammered in Stafford. Our street looked like a river in less than 15 minutes. Had an issue with the water draining in the yard, hubby had to hammer out the neighbor's fence while I cleaned out the debris. Wow! don't let your guard down.
Best case scenario if you go out driving tonight is your car gets destroyed. That is the BEST CASE SCENARIO. If flood water enters your tailpipe, your car is toast. Worst case scenario is you lose your life. Do not travel.

Yes, we've had several VERY close lightening strikes around our house in northern Brazoria County. 2.5" of rain in just about the last half hour alone.Rip76 wrote:This is a very intense storm in Pearland right now.

Its been raining so heavy! here in the heights, my street is completely flooded...
More development occurring behind this line and another band looks to be setting up in Columbus. Afraid it is going to be a long night. Everyone please heed warnings and stay safe!

Our SE Texas neighbor with the 53rd Weather Squadron flew the last mission for Harvey. Inside a C-130 as CAT 4 Harvey nears landfall. Thanks for your permission to share on the KHOU Weather Forum, Kelly.

Some potential good news. The tops of Harvey is being sheared a bit and it's drawing in a little dry air.

Just in the last hour - the south hemisphere of the core is exposed - and radar returns show little rain on Harvey's wrap around. The Feeder bands will continue to cause havoc, rotating like a pinwheel, but there's a glimmer of hope in slowly ramping down this "cut-off" tropical cyclone.
