It is hard to believe but Tuesday marks the 40th anniversary of the sinking of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald. The cause of the shipwreck is still debated. It's a fascinating story and Gordon Lightfoot's iconic song has kept the memory of the ship and its demise alive., something that makes me quite happy, The song introduced millions of new people to Lightfoot's music

S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sunk during a storm.

I would not be surprised if waves caused the ship to sink. A stark contrast from the Titanic, which sunk in calm and clear weather.
