Northern northern portions.
This weather stinks. Haven't seen any flakes, pellets, or whatever you want call it. Bring forth Spring and let the far northern northern portions of southeast Texas enjoy the wet snow mixing with rain with no accumulation.

Speaking of Travis County ... I experienced two separate sleet/rain mix periods this morning: 5:40 am and 8:35 am in different parts of Austin. They were brief. And now, Ol Sol is out and our temps are in the upper 50s. Trees are starting to bud. As much as I love a winter weather event (or two), I'm ready for spring too. Sunshine, regular storms with needed rainfall, and warmer temps!BlueJay wrote:Thank you, srain, for all of the Travis County road/weather conditions reporting!
I'm ready for some sun!
I saw some brief snow from a 4th floor office a few hours ago @ Woodlands Waterway/Town Center....
I like to see some spring thunderstorms.Portastorm wrote:

A cold morning across SE TX with a light freezing across many areas. Mostly sunny skies with some increasing high clouds later today. Another cold night with increasing clouds. No Winter precip for SE TX the next several days however its a different story for NTX. The potential exists for 2 rounds of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain Saturday morning. Round 1 is approaching NTX currently.
What the heck?!?!? I had a low of 30. It wasn't supposed to freeze! Geez, they just can't get it right.

It was very obvious to me last evening that we would freeze again as temperatures dropped like a rock from the upper 40's yesterday afternoon into the 30's before I went to bed. Ideal radiational cooling conditions were very obvious to me. Sometimes I believe we have to use our own weather knowledge and take precautionary measures ourselves. That said I do feel for the gardening folks that may not be so weather wise. We have a heavy frost again this morning all the way to the ground here in NW Harris County. A strong shortwave associated with the next surge of Arctic Air is bringing a round of light snow this morning for our neighbors in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.jasons wrote:What the heck?!?!? Even the NWS late evening update said maybe down to Conroe and points north. Missed the boat on that one.

Wow, just ready for Spring now. Cold with miserable rain and our neighbors to the north getting any semblance of something somewhat exciting. Always to our north.

I'm a little concerned that we could see another round of freezing to near freezing temperatures tonight as this next Arctic front passes. The latest visible imagery shows that advancing front very well and there is some thinning of the clouds that have been forecast to keep most of SE Texas above the freezing mark. Also, another round of wintry weather is expected tomorrow afternoon into Saturday from the Hill Country on N into the Dallas Ft Worth area. For ticka1, heavy snow is expect over the weekend across the Northern Mountains of New Mexico. Current webcams at Taos are showing light to moderate snow is falling today and Red River, Taos and Angle Fire as well as the ski areas of Colorado could be measuring snowfall by the foot in this active weather pattern across the Southern Rockies.

Another strong cold front next Wednesday. Highs in the 40s behind it Wed/Thu afternoons. Don't think we'll have to worry about any freezing/frozen precip in Houston. Maybe some very cold rain...again
