Spurs Championships and Texas Hurricanes

With the Spurs being in the NBA finals I was reminded of a silly correlation I read about years ago and thought I would share it. Unfortunately I don't remember where I read it so I don't have a link to post.
Every year the Spurs have won the NBA championship the Texas coast has been hit by a hurricane.

1999 - Hurricane Brett hit Padre Island
2003- Hurricane Claudette hit near Port O Connor
2005- Do I really need to say anything. Hurricane Rita
2007 - Hurricane Humberto hit near the TX/LA border

I read about that too. It happens when Spurs win the NBA Championship. It was from a NWS office.

I also found a correlation between cool springs and major hurricane making landfall on Upper Texas Coast.

Maybe we should watch how these theories unfold for 2014.

I'm not sure about the Spurs winning the NBA championship correlation but maybe the cool spring we have been sort of enjoying could lead to something. We will see...

Now that the hurricane season is officially over, we should be able to put this theory to rest. Just because the Spurs win a championship it does not mean that Texas will get hit with a hurricane. the end.
