You ever wondered what the weather was like on famous or infamous date?

Here is what the weather was like on September 11, 2001, the day America was attacked.

A cold front had passed and it rained the day before. The morning of September 11, 2001 was a clear and pleasant late summer day. The weather had never been so clear until two airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and field near Shanksville. The north-northwest wind from the cold front pushed the massive plume of toxic dust and smoke cloud from the collapsing World Trade Center towers southwards. The Friday following 9/11 rained in the early morning hour and was accompanied by thunderstorms, which hampered the rescue effort. It was fitting as the world was mourning the people who perished on that horrible day. Tragically, 3,000 people lost their life in the deadly terrorist attack.

Central Park (World Trade Center): 61°F/77°F
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (Pentagon): 64°F/82°F
Johnstown-Cambria County Airport (Closest to Shanksville): 52°F/70°F

What was the weather like on April 20, 1999, the day of the Columbine High School Massacre.

This is from Centennial Airport, closest to Columbine, Colorado, which is in unincorporated Jefferson County. It was a mostly cloudy and warm day on that fateful Tuesday. The low was 37°F to a high of 70°F. There was no rain or snow that day as two student gunmen attacked Columbine High School claiming 13 lives and injuring 25, before committing suicide.

Centennial Airport: 37°F/70°F
