Just heard from our friend, who had to drive to his office to check out an issue due to the storms. It took him an hour to drive 6 miles. Cars under water, flooded streets, etc. I went the opposite direction this morning and had no issues. I hope he took some pics so I can share.

I heard thunder and lightning all night. I can't recall this much lightning and thunder at night. Let alone happening almost all night. Also, the 11 inch of rain near Richmond is quite impressive. That is the first +10" of rain in the Houston area in quite some times.

I see portions of the Clear Creek water shed are near 5+ inches overnight so flooding should slowly recede the next several hours. What a night for folks on the S side of the area. We may do it all again Monday into Wednesday as another system drops SE from the Pacific NW. Also with activity increasing in the EPAC, a wet pattern may be developing for the Lone Star State in the longer range...;)
I think this summer could be wetter and cooler than last summer.

It's going to be a close call tomorrow with a lack of deeper Gulf moisture, but the 12Z WRF/NMM is suggesting a MCS to our W with a chance of showers/storms mainly for our western areas on Tuesday. We will see...

Scattered showers and storms are developing across our northern areas and drifting SE. In fact it's raining up here in NW Harris County at this time. Tomorrow looks to be a bit more active as well.

Seabreeze is progressing North also. Could kick some more storms up.

I'm sure it'll weaken some overnight, but probably comes back with afternoon heating, or Wednesday's rain looks to arrive 12-18 hours earlier than models suggested just a day or two ago...

If they hold up, I am guessing they would arrive around daybreak.

I'm back from vacation...

I managed .34" yesterday, not bad! There looks like a decent band in NW Harris County that may work my way. It's moving slowly so this band could drop some heavy rainfall over a small area.

Flood Advisories have been issued in Central Texas for areas from San Antonio to Austin and on S to the I-10 Corridor to our W. The upper trough axis is slowly progressing E and showers and storms continue to stream across our northern zones.

Storms firing now on the southern flank (offhsore South of GLS and then towards Matagorda), probably collision of rain-cooled outflow from north with warm/moist streaming undisturbed layer pushing in from the Gulf/South.

Had another .30" yesterday, so .64" for a two-day total. Not bad, but I did not get the motherlode last week, so more is welcome.

While we are in a pattern that once again seems calm and benign in the weather department, it is a good time to begin to dust off those Hurricane Plans just in case we may need them. While some of the Tropical Season forecasts suggest a quiet season with less activity, we must remember that it only take one storm to make for a very bad season.

Now a look at the weather ahead as we march toward Memorial Day Weekend. The guidance is suggesting a rather deep Western trough developing next week as deep tropical moisture pools across the EPAC (with a possible cyclone) and the Western Caribbean. A rather stout early season heat wave builds across the Eastern half of the US putting Texas on the western flank of the ‘Ring of Fire’ allowing moisture to stream inland.

My hunch is as next week progresses, some of the tropical moisture will begin to pool across the Gulf of Mexico and scattered afternoon showers/storms increase in a summer like pattern. As the western trough slowly heads E, moisture from the EPAC will begin to be drawn NE setting the stage for severe weather episodes as we head toward Memorial Day Weekend. We will see.
