I had an interesting chat with Dr. Neil Frank a few weeks back regarding old footage in the vault at KHOU. It was 'Doc's' first year as a forecaster at the NHC and we lived in a much different time. What is interesting that the 'powers that be' that were reluctant to allow the radar images to be shown 'live' were from elsewhere. It certainly did change public awareness of the destructive power of a Hurricane and had a direct impact on how the media today relays that information.

I find it amazing that only 64 people died in Carla...I guess people paid attention when they were told to evac and did not second guess the reports coming in from what news coverage there was.
