For me, 60 degrees is the perfect 'comfortable' temperature with the sun out and a light breeze.

Just depends on what you're doing. When I'm not working, I'm out on my bike on a long ride. Try standing outside with the temperature at 60 and a 25 mph wind blowing on your wet skin for 3-5 hours. That's what it's like biking in such cold air. I agree, it's not TOO bad doing something like yard work in 60F temps, but on a bike is quite cold, requiring tights, thermal jersey, hat, full-finger gloves, etc..

New GFS is in. Still 82 for tomorrow but a lot drier Fri/Sat:

80F this hour in NW Harris County. I see IAH has 80 as well. It sure feels great out there for a change.

There ya go! Let's all enjoy this 80 degree February weather! That's how winters should be around here! No more talk about freezing temps or snow this winter.

If I knew how to shrink images where they would fit on this page, I would upload it.
Anyway, the Twisterdata GFS Snow depth shows about 1-2 inches of snow In Corpus Christi and West of there at hour 54. Hour 60, it covers more of an area. Hour 66 shows about .05 around the Victoria area and SW of Houston. Then by hour 72 it starts fading away. What are they exactly picking up on?

All I'm seeing is mid to lower 40s for lows this weekend there with mid to upper 30s near the Austin area.

(Obviously it is now 1:15am, so for the ones who don't see this till later in the morning, it will probably be gone as a new model run will show up, but as of now, it shows a light accumulation of snow in south TX.)

So no rain at all this weekend? It is too warm for me for February. Scarey to think how early we are getting to 90 degrees. Just saying.

No, no rain this weekend - just snow, according to the 6Z GFS, that is. I find that hard to believe after we hit the mid 80s today that it'll be snowing here within 48 hrs. More likely a little light rain possibly mixed with sleet IF the models are correct about that cold air layer aloft.

getting to 90 early in the year (for one day) has no bearing on how hot the summer will be. Now if we had a week or two of 90 degree weather in February, then we might be on to something.

I'm forecasting an average to cooler than average Summer and wetter than normal.

I can't wait for Fall/Winter of 2012-2013 to arrive again. Should be a fun one across most of Texas.

lol...never under estimate the 'power' of a cold core upper low... :)

Hmm, sounds like the 2004 snow Christmas miracle.

Well the 12Z GFS would be a novelty for our neighbors near Monterrey, MX and S Texas on up to near Matagorda Bay. Will we see a repeat of two weeks ago?

Are the models being bullish or could this actually materialize?

It has been suggested by the models for the past couple of days. Will it materialize? That remains to be seen. My hunch is the mountains near Monterrey may well see snowfall and perhaps a few inches which would be highly unusual this late in the year. That said stranger things have happened this February as we saw a couple of weeks ago with our sleet showers.

All the models are in good agreement now regarding Saturday. The UKMet and Euro have joined in the GFS/NAM solution suggesting a chance of a possible sleet pellet or two across S Texas/Eagle Pass to near Matagorda Bay. This is not the same set up as 2004, though. This will be totally driven by a cold pocket aloft and temps at the surface are just too warm to support snow. Those in Monterrey MX may see some snowfall at those higher elevations.
