Hey guys, I'm finally a Senior in high school and its time for the famous "Vocational Research Paper"... 7 pages on what I would like to do in my life. I had not a clue, so i chose Meteorologist as my profession. One of the pages is required to be an interview from a professional or even semi-professional in the field.
I know we have many registered Mets floating around here, I would REALLY appreciate it if i could interview one of you guys for this section. It would be done by PM (Private Message) and it can be 10 short answer questions.
It would really be a great help to me, and i know there are some kind folks on here with just a few minutes to spare. Reply here and ill PM you my few questions.
Thanks in Advance!

My grade are just OK, Lower B in both, but they are honor classes. :/wxman57 wrote:I've been doing this for 30 years now, so I should be able to help you out.
How are your grades in math and physics?
If you could help me out, I just need to send about 10 questions asking about the education required, the possible employers, and the basic job you do. Seriously, our teacher doesn't need any technicalities, nor would understand them, so the questions will be simple Q and A's about the job.
Is it ok to interview you by PM?

If you really want to impress someone at your school, I'd get with Dan to see if you might be able to
interview Dr. Neal Frank. I'm sure he would honored, if he is still willing to do such. Wow! How cool would that be????

http://aviationweather.gov/adds/metars/
In the search box for METAR data, put in the 4-letter ICAO (airport identifier) and choose "Translated".
Corpus Christi = KCRP
Galveston = KGLS
You'll get a report like this:
Conditions at: KCRP (CORPUS CHRISTI, TX, US) observed 1651 UTC 03 March 2010
Temperature: 15.6°C (60°F)
Dewpoint: 8.3°C (47°F) [RH = 62%]
Pressure (altimeter): 30.17 inches Hg (1021.8 mb)
[Sea-level pressure: 1021.7 mb]
Winds: from the SSW (200 degrees) at 10 MPH (9 knots; 4.7 m/s)
Visibility: 10 or more miles (16+ km)
Ceiling: at least 12,000 feet AGL
Clouds: sky clear below 12,000 feet AGL
You can also go that link above and just click the "AUS" link over Texas to get a plotted surface chart with temperatures in red.

You might be able to provide him some insight about the current curriculum for met students. I got out of school in 1980. We didn't have classes with computers. Our maps were hand-plotted and analyzed (by us).PsuWNMatt wrote:srainhoutx wrote:And what does this information have to do with the Topic at hand Ed![]()
