Strongest Tropical Cyclones

Since Tip was measured directly and had a central pressure of 870 millibars. One has to wonder, if there are storms just as or even stronger than Tip. Since recons have not been done and they are largely based on the Dvorak technique. However some storms are considered more intense than Tip. There was a typhoon that had a central pressure of 865 millibars (25.55 inhces of mercury) off the coast of Okinawa in 1945.

Monica had a central pressure of 869 millibars based on the Dvorak technique. The 1997 supertyphoons had a central pressure of 872 millibars, but I think it was lower, more like 865 millibars. The Dvorak scale for typhoons is different from the Atlantic. Angela had sustained winds of 185 to 190 mph (160 to 165 knots). Super Typhoon Keith was small and had a central pressure of 872 millibars. It would not surprise me, if Keith had winds of +195 mph (170 knots). Gay had a pinhole eye like Wilma and resembles Wilma.
