There is a large fire behind my house currently that I am watching CLOSELY. The Woodlands Fire Department and other VFD's have been going up and down my street and behind our houses. Helicopters flying overhead, too.
On a side note, did anybody see that Hurricane Ike is now the 2nd costliest hurricane/disaster on record?
The fire has gotten really bad for Texas. This is the worst fire I have seen in Texas ever. Not even the late 1990s had fire like this. I think the drought is going to end up costing Texas +$30 billion. Also, the drought is affecting other states and the tally could be close to +$60 billion. Yes, I noticed Ike is the second costliest hurricane. It even eclipsed Andrew.
Tireman: I'd love to see your avatar become a reality (yes, wxman57, I know...triple digits, drought and wildfires for the rest of our lives, lol!) A guy can hope though.

After this summer Wxman57 can't ever complain about cold weather again!
Should be interesting to see if we have a winter similar to last winter where we get a similar blocking pattern that created some of those extremely cold blasts.
