I do not mind severe thunderstorms as long as there are no demises involved. I share Ed Mahmoud's avidness for austere thunderstorms such as bow echos, derechos, hookechos, regualar severe thunderstorms and supercells as long as citizens do not end up perishing in those different types of thunderstorms.
Thank you for that explication on what the culprit of a cap typically is over southeast Texas, srainhoutx.

It never was a SE event and more of a North Texas event to that extent. I enjoy the quietness for now. Gives me some time to catch up on other aspects of life.

The beautiful weather has made it possible to get some early Spring cleaning completed. Trees and flower beds have been prepared. Pool has been cleaned and thoroughly vacuumed. Now if we can just get some badly needed rain. Chances this Saturday look slim, but an active pattern is ahead with some stronger Spring like storms crossing the S Plains with a progressive trough pattern. Fingers crossed for some increase in rain chances.

Don't want any rain Saturday, srain. Have that big sporting clays shooting charity event at the American Shooting Center on Westheimer Parkway. Over 700 registered shooters. Our team shoots from 1pm-4pm. Glad we're not shooting from 9am-noon, as those shooters may be dealing with rain. Have my rain gear packed just in case, though.

Capping appears to not be much of an issue for Saturday. The GFS continues the trend suggesting rain chances. Hopefully wxman57 can stay dry for his outdoor activities.

If the 12Z GFS and Canadian are correct, perhaps some better rain chances next week as a strong storm system develops across the Plains and a robust cold front drops S into TX and our area. I see there are some Pacific Winter RECON missions planned for this disturbance as well...

Rain chances are looking meager for tomorrow. There does appear to be chances of some lighter showers and perhaps a bit more coverage near coastal areas for Saturday. The best chance we've seen in a while looks to next Tuesday night into Wednesday as a much stronger storm system moves across the area with a trailing cold front. In fact, thunderstorms look promising at this range with less in the way of capping and the Upper Air disturbance also looks to be a bit further S as well. Fingers crossed for a better chance at some much needed and a bit more widespread rain fall event as we look toward mid next week.

Moderate shower in SW Houston now (7:15am). Looking west, I see a light shower at the American Shooting Center where our sporting clays tournament will be held today. As I had forecast, rain there should end with frontal passage in the next hour or so. Should be dry for our 1pm shoot for sure.
Cold front should reach downtown Houston around 9am and push offshore by 11am. When is the parade, txflagwaver? If it's 9am-10am in League City, then you'll get showers during the parade. Your rain probably won't end until around noon.
Besides the much needed rainfall, the temp dropping into the 40's with gusty Northerly winds will also be noteworthy today behind that front. Temps tonight in the 30's in my area are going to be a big change.

I had a pleasant surprise this morning when I was awoken at 6am to the sound of thunder. It was off and on for about 30 minutes along with some fickers of lightning. I could use A LOT more of that!!!!

This is just weird!! You(North of me) and a friend in Texas City(SE of me) report thunder and intense lightning(at least in TC)and heavy rain and here at the house we got no T'storm and 0.02" of rain. We did have a brief shower this afternoon before it cleared. Got down to 48f before the sun came out. Now back to 55f.
Happy birthday sleetstorm.
The warned cell Steve posted about above produced a confirmed EF0 tornado with damage and injuries I believe. I've seen one report of a fatality in LA, but haven't confirmed it or whether it was with this storm in Acadia Parish.
