Everything is wrapped and ready to go here. We dipped to about 32-33F for a brief bit but we've been at 35-36 for a few hours now.

I think this will be the final stake for a lot of my plants. I say bring on the snow and I'll plant a more cold-hardy garden!

Source at HGX ASSURED ME that this is NOT a Christmas 2004 event and inland areas WILL SEE the highest accumulations (exclamation point). Also, he said Lake Charles could get a massive ice storm.

I'm still not sure why that would be. Greatest available moisture will be near the coast, not well inland. And it appears upper-level temps will support snow down to the coast.

The NAM looks to have some serious changes..for the good or course!

12Z NAM is lighter on the precip for SE TX and heavier in SW LA. Nothing in coastal counties along the upper TX coast. I don't buy it. Temps should be cold enough for snow in coastal counties. I think the NAM is too far north and too light with precip.

18Z NAM appears a good bit heavier across Houston with the snow.

Okay, so what do I need to do to my pool pump, etc. other than just make sure it is on and running during this freeze? We've only been in this house for 6 months, so I'm a first time pool owner during a massive freeze!

Leave it running and you should be fine. You can also cover your filter and pumps with a heavy blanket as I have for added protection. Thankfully I have an anti freeze protection system that cycles the pumps once the water temp reaches a certain level. I suspect I'll have ice covering my weeping rock features as well as water falls and spill way areas.
