My only concern for no hard freeze around this area would be some clouds trying to sneak in from the SW
Note that skies at Palacios are currently overcast. We shall see...
Anyway, 35 here now. Should fall to freezing in a couple of hours.

Looks like we will get below freezing for several hours! At least we are having a WINTER and cold temps! I have done the 80's and running the a/c in January - not fun at all!!!!

In North Cypress, we're hovering right around freezing. TWC predicts a low of 20, HGX says 24. Either way we're in for a hard freeze in far Northwestern Harris co. Still hearing talk about potential flurries this week, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
Ready for severe weather season!!

0z GFS didn't really throw anything interesting out. In fact, it seems to suggest a more zonal flow starting late this week (keeping the brunt of the cold air toour North and east). But hey, it's just a model.

So true...our models haven't exactly had a "good" track record lately....especially last week.weatherguy425 wrote:0z GFS didn't really throw anything interesting out. In areas where it goes into the mid 20's, if the clouds sw of here come rolling in before sunrise, could that keep temps in the 30's all day instead of 40's?

Agreed!!! What is the point of having the different seasons if you don't get to enjoy what each one has to offer. They are there for a reason anyway. Every living thing on this earth would suffer, with some ceasing to exist without this balance.

The current temperature at my location, here in Baytown, is 34ºF while Houston is at 31ºF. There is still time for it to reach the upper twenties prior to sunrise. I also went outside to see if there were any snow flurries and saw none.

Brrr. 24 degrees in NW Harris County and the pool antifreeze protection is running away. I see wxman57 was at IAH the past several hours with that hair dryer as that location has been stuck at 27.
Huntville reporting 21.

I'm still up at IAH with my hair dryer, trying to keep the thermometer from dropping to 25F so I win my lunch bet...

Seems generally most locations are a few degrees warmer than forecast. Looks like dewpoints didn't get as low as predicted and clouds and wind also kept the mercury from bottoming out. Even Dallas is 'only' at 24 degrees. They were looking for 18 overnight.

I do see that cloud deck not far off to my SW. I suspect day time temps will be a bit 'cooler' than forecast. This makes the 3rd time I've managed 24 here this winter season. But only the second time the pool antifreeze protection has kicked in.

I'm liking the trend on this 6Z GFS meteogram. Let's see, if I extrapolate it out beyond 192hrs, I see 80s by the 22nd and 90s by February!
