Total ice accumulation for this storm event.

Ice sort of danced around the metro Houston area…warm bridge surfaces (34-36 degrees) and some warm rain processes and latent heat release (temperature of the actual rain drop was warm 35-40) likely the reason the metro area was spared.

Ice was slow to form on elevated surfaces even when the air temperature was 27-29 degrees.
0.3 in of ice, 0.2 inches of sleet, 0.1 inches of snow in CLL

Storm 2K is fun, but a little chaotic. I feel like a blend of this board's perspective on forecasts and events would more than hold its own against NWS. A nice mix of Mets, geezers, and younger enthusiasts.

Regardless of wintry precipitation or rain, it was much needed. Texas is still has severe drought.

Yeah - 22 here instead of 18. I’m good with that.

Hard Freeze over much of the area this morning
Warming trend through Thursday
Strong cold front Friday with freezing low temperatures this weekend
No winter precipitation is expected with the Friday cold front
A cold morning over the area with temperatures in the upper 10’s north and west (19 at Tomball and College Station) and low to mid 20’s south and east (24 at Angleton and 25 at Hobby). Some interesting temperature trends showed up around southeast Harris County overnight as light winds turned east and southeast. This light wind coming off the “warm” bay waters kept temperatures in the upper 20’s to near 30 on the western side of Galveston Bay.
Temperatures:
The combination of increasing clouds from the west and the arctic high pressure cell moving east will allow for a much warmer night with lows falling into the mid/upper 20’s north and west and near 30 south and east. Within Beltway 8 lows likely to be in the 30-33 range.
Highs on Wednesday will warm into the mid 50’s with lows Thursday morning in the low 30’s north and west and mid 30’s south and east. Within the Beltway low likely to be in the 33-36 range. Highs Thursday afternoon may break 60 degrees.
Next Front:
Another strong cold front will move across the area late Friday with a return of colder temperatures and gusty northerly winds. There is a slight chance of some light rain or showers on Friday along and ahead of the front, but all the rainfall will end prior to the arrival of any freezing temperatures and no freezing or frozen precipitation is expected.
While still a few days out, low temperatures back into the upper 20’s/low 30’s for Saturday morning and mid 20’s Sunday morning is a potential behind this front

Low of 16°F IMFY. Didn't make the single digits, but should keep insects down for a little while. I enjoyed the walk/run yesterday in 27°F heat. We creeped up to 33°F yesterday afternoon to break my prediction of 60+ hours of freezing or subfreezing temp. in a rows.

We're at 33°F now but patches of ice/sleet/snow remain on the ground. and on the north facing roofs.

40°F is the new 60°F. Feels "warm" out there. lol.

I'd take this 100X more than 100°F+ and humid...yet somehow no rain.

Over 30,000 customers remain without power in NE TX due to the weekend ice storm. Power crews continue to work restoration from NE TX to TN with over 500,000 customers without power in those states due to significant ice storm
Also I-20 in northern Louisiana is gridlocked due to ice on the highway…some motorists have been stranded on the highway for 24-30 hours. I-20 in northern Louisiana should be avoided until conditions improve.

The CPC has above normal precipitation chances for Texas over the next two weeks. Hopefully a sign of bigger changes ahead.

I wouldn’t quite rule out snow for us yet this weekend.

22°F low, after a 16°F low and 20°F lows IMFY before that. Keeping the weeds and insects down.

51°F today and 61°F tomorrow - milder air before another FROPA.
