My local point forecast on the NWS website is varying wildly.. every hour or two I look at it, the temps and precip amounts change by 4 or 5 degrees and .2 or more ice

My low on Tuesday just went from 18 to 12°F.
10° Sunday night and 9°F Monday night progged here. I'm rolling lucky 7s IMFY.
Hey neighbors. We'll you know that old saying around here... Wait a day. Flip flop.. Etc. Winter weather is so difficult to pin down around here. I still say nowcasting is on the table. Yes, we have a warning in the area now, but we have been here before. One thing forecasters seem to always miss is living in the south and how very cold air behaves. I would suggest preparing for the worst no matter what. Those fur babies. Please make sure they can stay warm. It's going to be uber cold with or without ice.

18z HRRR is hinting at a couple of bands of heavy snow/ sleet mixing in, alot more mixing across the houston metro
Backside means biz
Drops a 2-3 inch sleet/snow band over Brazoria, Ft Bend and Southern Harris. A 1.5 inch band out by me.

Metro Houston still looking good. NWS has a total of 0.05 inches of freezing rain forecasted, and not getting below 32 until late in the day on Sunday. Seems like it’s going to be a “be careful on freeways and overpasses” kind of system for those of us in the city!

I bet that changes as the mesos continue to get worse for Houston in terms of freezing rain and sleet.
They wouldn’t issue a WSW if they only thought .05 would fall. I bet that text forecast changes soon.

Hopefully not, but I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on things just in case.

I hope everyone is doing well. What a massive Winter Storm is unfolding across almost 2400 miles of our Nation! Stay safe and know the wind chills mean business. I'm hoping the ice isn't too bad, but I am concerned that such a wide swatch of freezing rain could cause catastrophic electrical grid failures across the South even here in my County in Smoky Mountains.
