Lol.
What's funny
NWS is notoriously late with winter weather advisories. It’s very early to throw in the towel for coastal counties.

Not surprised one bit. Won’t be surprised to see that turn to snow either.

This may end up being the biggest winter storm that I have personally experienced so far in my life. I consider the 1997 ice storm to be the biggest winter storm i have experienced.

Our freezing rain is becoming sleet in the NWS forecast.
Wintry weather is a complex and difficult forecast.

Hurricane Hunters are flying into the low pressure in the Pacific. The same low pressure system that will be responsible for the wintry weather this weekend.

Agree. I've only been observing and researching south Texas weather for 60 years... but I've learned to filter the model noise and overall hype and go by all the sensible signs. Those of us north of the I-10 (-ish) line will see a cold rain that will change to freezing for a few hours... then go predominately sleet for most of the duration through late Sunday. Flurries will mix in as the event winds down off-and-on through Monday, with no real thaw for a couple of miserable days with quite a few of us without power. [Just my thinking, use several grains of salt]

But you know what? It's southeast Texas and I welcome a bit of real winter to offset the 10 month sauna. So once again I say, "bring-it... even a little discomfort is better than doldrums".

Let's roll...

That is so great to see. I was afraid we were going to have to wait for balloons, etc. after it hit shore to get some real data. We can't fault the models for inaccuracies if they don't have real measurements to work with.

Sounds about right for College Station. We may stay below freezing from Friday night to Tuesday afternoon. Get out the ice skates and s;eds. Put away the automobiles and truck.
