All i can say is we better hope nothing gets into the gulf for the rest of the season, the gulf officially now has a record breaking amount of upper ocean heat content, big yikes
The old frontal boundary stretches from the Yucatan Peninsula to the Florida Keys. It's crazy. There's mid-level cap of dry air blocking moisture and development NW of the front.

Could be wrong but things look pretty done in the Gulf. At least for now. The Atlantic season can go until November and there's plenty of heat.

Hurricane season is over for us and I have zero interest what happens elsewhere in the basin.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 2:09 pm All i can say is we better hope nothing gets into the gulf for the rest of the season, the gulf officially now has a record breaking amount of upper ocean heat content, big yikes
In my 60+ years of tracking Texas weather, I can't recall a July through September that didn't have a named storm in the Gulf. And as would be expected the water is now boiling hot there.
Very weird. One would have to expect that weather equilibrium will have to be achieved... hopefully not in some catastrophic event(s).

I’m interested to see what impact it could have on our winter.Kludge wrote: ↑Thu Sep 18, 2025 5:33 pm In my 60+ years of tracking Texas weather, I can't recall a July through September that didn't have a named storm in the Gulf. And as would be expected the water is now boiling hot there.
