Probably from the lake.
We saw snow up here in CLL. No lake.

But I like the notion of lake effect snow from Lake Conroe.

As others have mentioned, I would be watching the system at the end of the week. Could be some ice in SE /SC Texas.

Almost 1:30 and temp has dropped to 28 here. This is crazy.

Lake Conroe can have some lake effect snow, it’s happened before, but it tends to be very light because the topography is mostly flat. Up in the DFW metroplex they had some decent bands of lake effect snow this morning. It’s a little hillier and gets just enough lift to squeeze out some flakes.

Up in Lubbock, we had orographic snow off the caprock at times. That could dump a foot of snow at one location and a few blocks away…nothing (usually the airport 😆)

Between living in Lubbock and trips to New Mexico, I’ve had my fair share of cold also…doesn’t mean I have to like it IMBY on the Gulf Coast though. This gray overcast windy cold is for the birds.

Especially of the cold continues to overperform. 26°F now and that's probably the high. Tomorrow is above freezing only if the sun pops out.. We'll be around freezing Friday night.

There are still frozen raindrops on the car, and I drove it to A&M and back...and back to A&M in a couple of hours. Internet issues in the work office.

You need to be outside, all day long. Revel in it. Soak it in. Enjoy the tinge of the wind, then and only then come back and tell us how great it is 😉
Notice I haven’t posted until now. I went for a run in 9 degree wind chill. The head wind coming back down 2434 was something else.

I wore shorts on a 12 mile run. Mwah!

The cold is not as penetrating in West Texas, NM, Colorado because of drier air. Probably the coldest I felt was not in Illinois or NC, but at an LSU home football game in ice fog and 25 mph winds. Moving air + wet wick effect = no bueno.

Nice. That's marathon weather! One of my colleagues broke 4 hours in the Houston marathon during the last cold spell. Her personal best.

I’ve seen forecasts for Saturday and Sunday for rain. I have my last long run before a race next wknd. I’m hoping I can still get out early and get it done.

What race are you running and how long is it? Weatherwise, I do not think IAH gets above freezing today. If they do, maybe one or at the most, two above it.

The iphone weather app says it’s 38 when it’s really 28. I’m convinced they don’t use actual observations but rather the model blend of what’s “supposed” to be.

The coldest I’ve ever been was in Austin at a Tech/UT football game on a cold November day not unlike today.

While it’s true that a wetter cold feels colder than a ‘dry’ cold…when you have low-level CAA with overrunning moisture it’s still plenty wet cold on caprock at times (hence the Orographic snow). Temps in the teens at night, with flurries, and winds gusting out of the north over 50mph with no windbreaks in sight — I would say that’s plenty cold enough whether it’s Lubbock, Chicago or Fairbanks, that’s just cold 🥶🥶

Good luck. I am trying very hard to get back to 7:30 pace shape for 10k by late November. That is the plan. :)

I may be wrong, but I do not think we get above freezing today in NE Harris County.

It’s almost 3:30. Not gonna happen, sir. Too much CAA and cloud cover. It’s not even above freezing at my job in Needville.
