It's Herzog. Hype is what he does.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 5:50 pm This kind of stuff is annoying as hell...why do you put the word DANGEROUS COLD? Come on man, there is nothing dangerous about lows 30's to mid 20's..this is why I hate tv mets..it's more hype then anything

Herzog is probably my fav on air met in Houston. David Paul is up there too. I’ve never personally seen on air mets hype anything. They’re all usually on the conservative side.Cromagnum wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 6:00 pmIt's Herzog. Herzog doesn’t hype
David Paul doesn’t hype
When you have a population - half of which is south of I-10 - not at all acclimated to it, wind chills approaching single digits are, indeed, dangerous.

I’d make a large bet with a bookie right now, that we end up greater than 3.5F below normal for the month.
Yes, I’m that confident. I think it could end up 10–12 below if the crawl through 8 and 1 slows further. We might be extending this below normal streak, week over week into week 3 of February. I am not confident in that, but it’s becoming more of a possibility.

"I said, 'Grave danger?'"
"You said, 'Is there any other kind?'"

That would be an outlier. It would shut down the city for days.txsnowmaker wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 11:16 pmSince the late 1800s, for Houston at least.

It's 33°F here already. We're set for 12+ hours of freezing weather. N wind at 14. Wind chill in the 20s.
We should make the low 20s. I'm going with 22°F after a 26°F low last night.
