Oh I know, but I figured they’d at least have a light freeze in their forecast even at this range.

LOL

If we are to pay attention to every flip flop, tonight we see the suggestion of much colder temps with our snow and ice maker digging very deep. If this scenario were to occur our area would see a really big ice and snow storm. The fact that this outcome keeps popping up is enough to lean more towards a yes vs. a no.. Still not 100%, but wow. Wow, indeed. This setup would cause massive power outages. Just like with a potential hurricane... be ready.

We’ve all been down this road before with these Artic blasts. A freeze is coming. A lot of us have already had a freeze in early December and that wasn’t even an Artic front.

I hope and pray that EROCOT and The energy providers are ready for this. I got a whole home generator installed in November so we will see how this all plays out. I have always had ice in the Houston area but if we get heavy Freezing Rain Storm, that is a problem

When should we begin preparations for this cold event? It looks like it will happen, but I know things can change.

Start whenever you feel comfortable. The obvious is pets, pipes, and plants. That takes supplies. As far as personal needs, the obvious stuff that gets yanked from the shelves. Think in terms of losing power while it's cold.

If you end up not needing these items you can count yourself as being one of the smart ones who were ready.

Man, that 6z GFS run is something else for areas N of I-10. And the cold just keeps pouring in from the Artic the entire run.
