I think we need the models to trend colder. We really need that 540 line to be about 100 miles further south.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 4:13 pm Gotta love that euro AI showing a coastal low/winter storm lol

Agreed but that's a tall task around here. I think if we would get anything frozen it would probably be freezing rain or sleet like always. That 540 line is hard to come by this far southCpv17 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 4:18 pmI think we need the models to trend colder. We are probably looking at a Freezing Rain Storm which shuts down Houston for a few days because all of the bridges and fly overs

Cpv17 at a minimum probably mid 40’s are the warmest i see for a high in this pattern, but then again we could also see way colder temperatures than that, should be interesting next couple of days as models try to get a better handle on the pattern

Mid 40s and rain would be so trash lol
It could happen too. I’m far from sold that we’ll get any Artic air down here.

Arctic air is coming down here, thats not a question, its a question of how cold
It’s going to get cold. It is a matter of how deep the polar vortex digs. Also, models sometimes underestimate how dense the cold air is and are forecasted warmer that it should be.
I think we will atleast get a couple light freezes out of this....which will be nice for a change.
I would like to see the forecast model starting next week. Freezing weather in Houston area is complicated and complex.

Icon 00z significantly colder at day 7 compared to the other models
That’s interesting cuz the ICON usually does a solid job with these Artic outbreaks.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:47 pm Icon 00z significantly colder at day 7 compared to the other models

It will this weekend when we have more clarity with the models
It probably would be more buzz in here if the GFS was onboard, but it currently can’t figure anything out right now.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:16 am Figured this place would be buzzing a little more with what maybe on the horizon![]()
