Two very interesting reads on today's cyclone can be found below. The second link is a little more technical but written in a very easily understandable way.

IAH did record a trace of precip yesterday. That'll likely end up as our monthly total for October 2010 since it doesn't look like we'll see any rain through Halloween.srainhoutx wrote:Oh and regarding rainfall, HGX has the Stats up and there was no rainfall (or trace amounts) yesterday...

I saw wxman57's post from yesterday. Not IMBY! (in my back yard) The front is across Central TX this evening. I see Brownwood gusting to 31...Mr. T wrote:IAH did record a trace of precip yesterday. IAH shattered old record today reaching a high of 94 degrees. The old record was 90. Galveston also broke a record reaching 87 degrees today. The old record there was 86. I HATE HOT WEATHER!!!!! Enough already. Oh I can't wait for the day I get a job up north....
Front edging closer. Should barrel through here tonight. Tomorrow things will be far different than today. Hallelujah! Hopefully this is the final punch to the gut and summer is finally OVER!

I'm ready for some chili! An old custom of mine to make chili when the temp drops below 40. Oh, and Happy Birthday Candy Cane!

No rain at my house, but those along the Coast may well have had a shower/storm as the front passed. It feels mighty nice out this morning, though.

Here's hoping HGX is right!
MAIN FORECAST ISSUE IS THE TEMPS THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WILL LIKELY
SEE AN IDEAL RADIATIONAL COOLING NIGHT ON FRIDAY NIGHT. SO EXPECT
TO SEE TEMPS FALL INTO THE MID 30S ACROSS RURAL AREAS IN
CENTRAL ZONES AND ACROSS THE NORTHERN ZONES. ATTM IT DOES NOT
LOOK LIKE IT WILL FREEZE...BUT WILL LIKELY GET CLOSE AT CXO.

It is funny how 0.02" of precip ended our no rain streak at 35 this morning.
I also noticed dewpoints reached the teens across the area today. I wonder when the last time that occured in October prior to today? I really can't remember the last time we have seen dewpoints that low in this month. I would say it is very unusual.

Very unusual. This will allow cooling for Friday night/Saturday night to be in the low 40's I would assume, easily.Mr. T wrote:It is funny how 0.02" of precip ended our no rain streak at 35 this morning.
