Could 2010 Be A Season Of Major Hurricanes Record?

Since 5 major hurricanes have formed (Danielle, Earl, Igor, Julia, and Karl), do you think we might break the record of 8 major hurricanes of 1950? I know 1950's 8 major hurricane is questionable because 2 of them may not be major hurricanes at all; Fox and Jig. 2005 had 7 major hurricanes.

Was 1950 a Mod La Nina, PT?

1950 was a La Nina year, a moderate one.

I have never seen an extremely strong La Nina, unlike an extremely strong El Nino. 1916-17 was close an extremely strong La Nina. The recent closest to an extremely strong La Nina was 1988-1989. Extremely strong El Nino were 1982-83 and 1997-98. Extremely strong would be defined as +/-2.5 C. I use the Japanese Meteorological Agency ENSO because it goes before 1950.
